Up Against the Wall

West Berlin

West Berlin in the 1970s was magical. There were so many intelligence operative in the city that crime was non-existent. It was in this enviornment, well behind the "Iron Curtain," that many young men and women experienced their first overseas' assignment.

In Up Against the Wall, Ed Jones recounts tales, true and unverified, of these men and women as they skirt the law and bounds of reason. Combining history, hearsay, and personal experience, he relates these tales in a tongue-in-cheek manner that will delight and intrigue the reader.

It made for an excellent read for history buffs and arm chair commandos. I know Ed Jones personally as a dedicated father and husband and a mature Christian man. Everybody should grab this book and enjoy it.  Eric S.

This memoir is good, old-fashioned story telling that is full of faithful details and information about Berlin during the Cold War era. Ed gives his personal memories the color and muscle they deserve. I imagine that Cold War buffs would find this book a great addition to their libraries. As someone who previously knew very little about the Cold War, I found that it peaked my curiosity about the general atmosphere and tone of that time in human history.  Mike K.
